- Candidates appearing for their qualifying examination may also apply, subject to fulfilling the eligibility requirements.
Courses Through SLAT

- B.A. LL.B. (Hons.)
- B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.)
- B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.)
- Other integrated law programmes offered by participating Symbiosis institutes, subject to the individual institute's admission rules.
SLAT Application Fee 2027
The official SLAT registration fee is:
₹2,550 per SLAT test
Candidates can select both test dates if they wish to appear twice.
In addition, candidates must pay a ₹1,000 programme registration fee for each programme/institute they apply to. Both fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Example
If a candidate:
- Takes both SLAT attempts, and
- Applies to one programme at SLS Pune,
the SLAT test fee will be applicable as per the selected test attempts, plus the applicable ₹1,000 programme registration fee.
SLAT Selection Process
SLAT is only the first stage of the admission process. Candidates must separately register for the Symbiosis institute/programme they wish to join.
The general process is:
SLAT Registration → SLAT Examination → Shortlisting → Personal Interaction (PI) → Merit List → Admission
For SLS Pune, the final merit process uses:
SLAT – 50% + Personal Interaction – 50%.
The shortlist/cutoff is determined separately by each Symbiosis institute and programme. Therefore, there is no single universal SLAT cutoff applicable to all Symbiosis law colleges.
SLAT Cutoff 2027
The official SLAT authorities do not announce a fixed cutoff before the examination. The cutoff for PI shortlisting is calculated separately for each programme/institute based on the candidate's SLAT performance and the competition in that admission cycle.
Expert Tip
Students targeting SLS Pune should aim for a very strong SLAT score/percentile because it is among the most competitive Symbiosis law schools.
Do not rely solely on unofficial "expected cutoff marks". The actual shortlist can vary every year.
How to Prepare for SLAT 2027
1. Build strong reading habits
Read newspapers and quality news sources every day, particularly for legal and national issues.
2. Prepare Legal Reasoning separately
Understanding principles and applying them to fact situations is more important than simply memorising legal information.
3. Practise timed tests
Since the examination gives candidates only 60 minutes for 60 questions, speed and accuracy are critical.
4. Use mock tests
Attempt full-length SLAT mocks regularly and analyse incorrect questions.
5. Don't leave questions unnecessarily
Because there is no negative marking, candidates should manage time so that they can attempt the complete paper.
Documents Required
Candidates should keep the following documents ready:
- Class 10 marksheet
- Class 12 marksheet/certificate
- Government-issued photo ID
- Passport-size photograph
- Category certificate, if applicable
- PwD certificate, where applicable
- Other certificates required for reserved categories
- Admission/application details
Candidates shortlisted for subsequent admission stages may be required to upload additional documents.
SLAT 2027 – Expert Preparation Strategy
For students preparing for SLAT 2027, a balanced preparation strategy is recommended:
Daily: Current affairs + reading comprehension
3–4 days/week: Legal + logical reasoning
2–3 days/week: Analytical reasoning
Weekly: Full-length mock test
Last 2–3 months: Increase mock-test frequency and focus on time management.
The biggest advantage of SLAT is the absence of negative marking, but candidates still need to develop strong accuracy because the 60-minute time limit makes the examination highly speed-oriented.
Final Verdict
SLAT is one of the key entrance examinations for students targeting Symbiosis law schools. With only 60 questions in 60 minutes, five equally weighted sections and no negative marking, success depends on a combination of speed, legal reasoning, reading ability, current affairs knowledge and mock-test practice.
For students specifically targeting SLS Pune, clearing SLAT is only the first step—the candidate must also perform well in the Personal Interaction round, which carries 50% weightage in the final merit calculation.
